I joined the Support Group for Achalasia @ Yahoo because I wanted to learn more about and understand
better what it is like to live with Achalasia. My initial interest in the topic is due my heart being owned by 'Eva
Diva,' a 3-yr. old dog having been diagnosed with congenital megaesophagus as a young pup. The term
'megaesophagus' and Achalasia were interchangeable for many years though the differentiation now is
known that megaesophagus does not focus on physical swallowing dysfunction, though I have witnessed
swallowing difficulty with Eva. Since the time of her diagnosis, I have tried to learn as much as I can about the
disorders. I am dedicated to learning more and doing what I can to help increase awareness as well as
joining forces with Achalasians to help effect necessary improvements. We all desire advancement in
treatment possibilities and continued research.
